Where to go for affordable vaccines

Jacob’s Ladder

Amber had her final shot of the 6-in-1 vaccine last Saturday at Jacob’s Ladder Immunization Center in Southmall. Yes, we travel all the way from Caloocan to Las Pinas to take advantage of this immunization center’s very affordable vaccine prices! One may think that the savings we derive is not enough to cover our fuel and toll fee expenses (oo nga naman sa mahal ng gasolina at toll fees, haaay!). So what we do is that we schedule our visit to Nanay in Muntinlupa everytime Amber has a scheduled vaccination. Parang hitting 2 birds in 1 stone lang!

I learned about Jacob’s Ladder from my ever dependable N@W group. Makes me think that every wife, mom, sister, grandma, etc would benefit if they would be N@W members! Hehe, plugging. But in all sincerity, I’ve learned so much out of the inputs that every member of this group so unselfishly shares. For those who are not members yet, especially moms like me, you may register by sending a blank email to: NewlywedsAtWork-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. Then Mimma Benz, one of the very nice founders, the other one being her husband, will email you back for some questions for screening purposes. Go na, be a member now! ^_^

Back to Jacob’s Ladder. Here’s a sample of the prices of some of their vaccines as compared to that of Amber’s Pedia:

Vaccine Type
Amber’s Pedia
Jacob’s Ladder
PCV
5,500
2,500
6-in-1
4,000
2,400
MMR
1,800
750
Hepatitis A
2,500
1,200
Flu
1,700
800
Typhoid
2,000
800
Meningococcal

1,600

See what I mean?

And they don’t just administer vaccines there, they also do well-baby check-up. They perform standard examination such as baby’s height, weight, and head circumference among others.

I also appreciate that the doctor there entertains every question you can throw at him. And for the many times that we’ve been there, he never rushes every session. Our visits take 30 minutes on an average. It will take longer if you’re the inquisitive type. ^_^

Daddy almost snatched this toy away from Amber because
she wouldn't let go of it even if we are about to leave.

In one of our kwentuhan sessions, (yes, kwentuhan na lang kasi I no longer consider it a consultation sa tagal ng usapan namin. Hehe!) I asked if the owner is also a medical practitioner and why the prices are way below the standard Pedia price when they can in fact price it a bit closer. I think people will still go to them because, 1- they're in the mall and 2- no matter how little savings we can get, we will still choose to go to the one that offers a lower price given that the product is the same.

I was a bit touched with his response.

The owner is not in the field of medicine. He is a businessman that advocates on making affordable vaccines available to everybody who needs them. He had a very close relative who died of an ailment that could have been prevented had the vaccines were accessible that time. This made me want to support the center more. I hope they would have more clients to keep them in the business.

Here is where you can reach them:
Jacob's Ladder Immunization Center
3rd Level, Southmall
Las Pinas City
Tel No.: 801-5453

They have other branches as far as I know. Do call them to inquire if they have a branch near you. ^_^

Vaccine Holiday

It will take us a year or 2 to visit Jacob’s Ladder again. Doc said that it’s already a vaccine holiday for Amber!

By this time, she already have all the basic vaccines she needs to keep her protected unless of course there will be an epidemic or if she will be exposed to a certain illness, wherein she needs to be vaccinated immediately. I hope she will never have to be exposed though.

So, congratulations Amber and Daddy!!! Pahinga muna sa tusok at gastos! So long Jacob’s Ladder, but we’ll definitely see you after 2 years na, I hope. Please try not to increase prices ha. ^_^

Amber and Nanay as we are about to leave Jacob's Ladder
