Couch Potato Me

What has been on TeeVee? Book to film/TV adaptations! ^_^

Game of Thrones

I failed! I failed again to read the book before seeing the TV adaptation. L

But I have good reasons! One, ang haba ng book! At ang hirap nya basahin, I swear! Two, well, the story is very interesting but it can be very boring at some point. Several times, I was tempted to skip a chapter. I just stop myself because I might miss an important event out of that boring chapter. Third, I got hold of a copy of the TV series, Seasons 1 and 2. Now, what can stop me from watching? Teehee!

I’m glad that I watched the TV series instead. I was instantly hooked. I was able to finish two seasons (equivalent to two books: Game of Thrones and Clash of Kings) in a little over 1 week. Now, I’m so looking forward to the release of the third season (A Storm of Swords).

Hunger Games

I finally watched the movie adaptation last Saturday night! Thanks to the resourceful pirates of the world for making a BluRay copy available 7 days before its expected release! Oh-ha!

Again, it is very disadvantageous knowing the story (by heart) before seeing the film. Feeling ko ambagal ng story. Kasi naman, I was already anticipating the next moves and scenes. I tried all my might not to make kwento while we watch for the benefit of my Hubby who is totally clueless about the film. Ang hirap! Kulang na lang i-stapler ko ang bibig ko, hehe!

I liked how it was executed. The scenes that made me cry in the book did make me cry in the movie, too. Oo naman, iniyakan ko ang Hunger Games! Haha! At proud ko pa talagang inamin ha. Sows!

Once Upon A Time

I know that this TV Series is not based on a particular book (but of several story books!). Pero isasama ko pa rin sa post na ito. Simply, because I loved this TV Series. All my lazy weekends were spent watching it episode after episode.

I finished 22 episodes in 2 weekends. Marathon to the nth power!

This is about the story of Snow White and the other fairytale characters that were cursed by the Evil Queen. The fairytale characters were brought to a different period and lived in a village called Storybrooke at the present time not knowing who they were in the past and how they are connected to each other. The prophecy is that the curse can be broken by Snow White’s daughter when she reached her 28th year. The baby was sent to live in the present time to save her from the Evil Queen’s wrath.

There you go... aside from mommy and wifey duties, these are the things that make a busy me during weekends. ^_^

The Crystal Maze

Magkakaalaman ng edad dito pero does anyone of you know the 1990s British game show The Crystal Maze?

It was mentioned on a radio show kasi and I remembered I was so addicted to it that I had to make sure I was at home from school every time it’s aired.

I would even get mad at the players if they sometimes take too much time figuring out how each game works, eh feeling ko andali-dali lang. Eh ikaw kaya ang ma-pressure dun sa room di ba?

Here’s the first ever episode. Have fun! And don’t get hooked. ^_^

Lady From The Barrio

During my highschool years, Mexican Telenovelas earned a phenomenal success. These are television series from Mexico that were dubbed in Filipino. And knowing how talented our script writers and dub artists are, they made these shows closer to every Filipino households the more.

I came home from school seeing Nanay and Tita (her sister) glued to the TV watching Thalia in Marimar. Thalia instantly became a big star in the Philippines after several of her shows became prime time hits, including Maria La Del Barrio.

ABS-CBN has just aired its Filipino version of Maria La Del Barrio yesterday. I remember it being Thalia’s show that I liked the most. Well, it was a very long time ago and I really could not remember the story anymore except that I know that I looked forward to watching it every afternoon as I come home, over her other shows.

Seeing how they styled Erich Gonzales in the show to resemble the looks of Thalia reminded me of a picture that I’ve seen just last year. I looked for it in my files and...

TADAAAAAHHHH...

Meet Amber La Del Barrio!

*Haba ng intro no? Shempre kelangan konek! Teehee!*

This was taken by Tita Renee's son when Amber was 6 months old. Makes me wonder what they are doing with her when the Hubby and I are at work. Feeling ata nila may life-size doll sila. ^_^

I wish I can watch the local Maria but our daily schedule will not allow me to. Btw, Enchong Dee is cute but I hope they have casted a much matured and hunky actor to portray Luis Fernando's character. Wala lang...

Masterchef Australia 2

...is my new favorite TV show!!!

It’s official! I’m addicted! I felt bad that Marion was eliminated in this morning’s episode. Well, I will also feel bad if it has been Aaron. Either ways, I’ll feel bad. I like them both.

Kakatawa reaction namin ni Hubby when the host declared that Aaron get to stay. Parang si Pacman yung natalo. Haha!

I enjoy watching the show. I may not be able to taste the dishes or copy the recipes (kasi naman,  intimidating the ingredients most of the times!), but I love seeing how the foods are made and how they are creatively plated. I also get to learn names of spices, nuts, herbs and what they’re for. Oh di ba, nalilibang ka na, natututo ka pa!

I think this is one of the reasons why I enjoy being in the kitchen lately. ^_^

It was Junior Masterchef Australia that first got me so hooked up in this show.

Isn’t it amazing seeing kids 8 to 13 years old cook and plate dishes? Grabe, pakakainin ako ng alikabok ng mga ito pag hinamon ko ng lutuan (masarap na alikabok!). The way they move around the kitchen, pro na pro mga kapatid! The kids are not just adorable, they are bad-ass cooks! Kitchen divas!
Anthony (in yellow shirt) is my crush! Ang cute-cute!
But he was eliminated  in Episode 7. :-(

ABS-CBN will soon air the Philippine edition of the Junior Masterchef. I’m excited to see this!

Now that I’m a mommy, my favorite shows come from this channel:

What can I do? That’s what the kid likes so I guess, I'll just have to like it, too (para peaceful ang life at level kami da vah? ^_^).

Time to hit the couch! ^_^
