Sundays with Masterchef

All my September Sunday afternoons are booked! Errr, isa na lang pala ang remaining Sunday ng September.

Bakit po? ^_^

Because there’s a Masterchef US S2 5-hour marathon at the Lifestyle Network on all Sundays of September starting at 3:30PM!!! Yey, I will be able to watch the episodes I missed.

I chanced upon it only last Sunday after Amber fell asleep. Yes, the TV is free!!! No more Nickelodeon while she naps!!! Hurrah! And the first episode for that marathon-day is just about to start. Sweet life!

Uhmm, the downside of that is we will be eating canned and frozen goods for dinner the whole week. Argh!

Kasi, we were supposed to go to the nearby Fresh Options Meat Shop to buy meat. We do our meat-shopping at 4PM because I can’t wake up too early on Sundays to catch up with the AM delivery at Fresh Options so I just opt to do it in the afternoon. Second delivery is at 3PM so we go there at 4PM giving them enough time to prepare the meat for display.

I usually stock up meat for our week-long consumption. But because of Masterchef, I wasn’t able to replenish our stock. Yes, kasalanan sha ng Masterchef! Let’s blame it all to Mastefchef! Harhar!

So next week, I have to do my meat-shopping early. But since I really can’t wake up early on weekends, Saturday na lang! Then Sunday is Masterchef day! Oh, and I have to finish all my household chores before it starts pala, giving the baby girl a bath included! ^_^

Wonder how I was able to watch the marathon even if Amber woke up after 2 hours and has been nagging me for Nickelodeon? Distraction, my friend! I gave her things to play with. When she got bored, I asked her to go find Daddy and see what he is doing. She will not be back in at least 30 minutes after that because she will be busy making kulit her Daddy. Then, I get my peaceful quiet time with Masterchef... I'm soooo smart! Haha!

Masterchef US Season 2

Ok, I am officially hooked in all things Masterchef! I already look forward to seeing every episodes of the second season of Masterchef US.

I didn’t like it at first because Gordon Ramsey is one of the hosts/judges. And after seeing an episode of Hell’s Kitchen, which he also hosts, I didn’t like him. Period.
But after seeing him in Masterchef, I’m beginning to grow fond of him. He is nice naman pala. Maybe his role in Hell’s Kitchen requires him to be... brutal, that’s why.

So going back to Masterchef US 2. I’ve watched it from the beginning (yeah, adik kung adik!) until the 17th episode. And I have a little secret to share with you...

I cried when Ben was eliminated... shhhh! Let’s keep that between us, ok? But, it was really so sad. I liked his outgoing personality and funny ways pa naman. He’s very endearing. I remember when he went to the audition. He was like a human pumpkin. He was wearing an apron and a chef’s hat with pumpkin prints all over. He said his mother made it for him because she can’t be with him there. I was hopeful to see him in the finals but he didn’t make it to the top 4. I was really so sad.

So there you go... a little secret and a (not quite) new show that I wanted to share with you.

Junior Masterchef Philippines

Junior Masterchef Philippines made its pilot episode yesterday entitled “The Appetizer”.

It was indeed an appetizer as it made me look forward to the upcoming episodes.

They have introduced the hosts, explained the mechanics of the show, took a trip around its kitchen and made a brief introduction of the junior contestants - where they came from and how their lives are.

One thing though, my sister-in-law (with whom I share my interest in the show) and I hope that they focus the show more on the competition and not the life of each contestant, just like what they do in every Pinoy reality show wherein they put so much drama into. This is in fact a cooking show and not a drama anthology.

Okay then, like what my sis-in-law said, let us suspend our judgment until we’ve seen a few episodes. ^_^

Let the cooking begin!

Masterchef Australia 2

...is my new favorite TV show!!!

It’s official! I’m addicted! I felt bad that Marion was eliminated in this morning’s episode. Well, I will also feel bad if it has been Aaron. Either ways, I’ll feel bad. I like them both.

Kakatawa reaction namin ni Hubby when the host declared that Aaron get to stay. Parang si Pacman yung natalo. Haha!

I enjoy watching the show. I may not be able to taste the dishes or copy the recipes (kasi naman,  intimidating the ingredients most of the times!), but I love seeing how the foods are made and how they are creatively plated. I also get to learn names of spices, nuts, herbs and what they’re for. Oh di ba, nalilibang ka na, natututo ka pa!

I think this is one of the reasons why I enjoy being in the kitchen lately. ^_^

It was Junior Masterchef Australia that first got me so hooked up in this show.

Isn’t it amazing seeing kids 8 to 13 years old cook and plate dishes? Grabe, pakakainin ako ng alikabok ng mga ito pag hinamon ko ng lutuan (masarap na alikabok!). The way they move around the kitchen, pro na pro mga kapatid! The kids are not just adorable, they are bad-ass cooks! Kitchen divas!
Anthony (in yellow shirt) is my crush! Ang cute-cute!
But he was eliminated  in Episode 7. :-(

ABS-CBN will soon air the Philippine edition of the Junior Masterchef. I’m excited to see this!

^_^
