Stormy Tuesday Morning

We are still having a stormy weather since ‘Kabayan’ hasn’t totally left the country yet. And he also tagged 2 other friends to join him, how’s that for a getaway? One is ‘Lando’ who we thought has already disintegrated yesterday but is now an LPA again and is giving us lots of monsoon rains. He is expected to hit the Philippine lands by Thursday while he waves goodbye to friend Kabayan who is expected to be heading to China by that time. Then there is ‘Mina’ who is expected to enter the PAR (Philippine Area of Responsibility) by Monday next week. I still wonder how they choose typhoon names.

The DepEd already announced cancellation of classes from Kindergarten to High School level in all NCR public and private schools as early as 4AM due to the expected heavy downpour. Good thing that the announcement came early. Go back to your bed kids and enjoy the warmth of your blankets. I’m so envious!

We left the house as usual at 530AM. I practically slept the entire trip because the weather just makes me want to doze off. I awoke from time to time because of the heavy rain taps. There were instances that the Hubby had to slow down because we couldn’t see the road. That’s how heavy the rain pour was!

I was nervous at times. I thought we might get stranded especially along the streets leading to Espana Blvd where there is already a knee-deep flood.

Here’s a picture I took when we were about to cross Espana Blvd. The water in the area near us is almost knee-deep.
Err... nope, there's no problem with your eyesight, it's the picture that is blurred.

Thank God, we got to our destinations safe and sound. I wish the same for everybody, too. Be safe my dear friends.

Hay, storm, storm, go away! We want to enjoy the sun’s bright rays!

Sunday is Family Day!

Daddy: Amber, alis tayo?

Amber: Yay!

Daddy: Where do you want to go?

Amber: Mooool!!!

O sha, moool daw. So to the mall, we go!

But before that...

Amber watched a few shows on TV while waiting for the parents to get ready.

She seemed enjoying being in-charged of the RC.
The only channel naman that she knows is Nickelodeon.
Tuwang-tuwa sa galak! ^_^

"What is taking Mommy so long?!?!"

The hungry little girl is becoming impatient so she took a dede first.
"Done with the dede and Mommy's not ready yet?!"

We left the house after 10 years! SM Fairview, here we come!!!

First stop, GQ Barbershop. Daddy needs a haircut. We waited for just about 15 minutes in the waiting area. Amber was very well-behaved. A couple sat right in front of us and I heard the lady told her kasama, “Ang cute nung baby, oh!”. I pretended not to hear but the stage mom in me was saying “Shempre naman, baby ko yan eh!”. Heehee!

Kaya lang panira ng bubble yung kasama eh. Sagot ba naman, “Lahat naman ng baby cute. Paglaki, hindi na!”. Gusto ko sana sabihin, “Ganun ba ang nangyari sayo?!?”. So kaka sha ha!

We went to the department store after that to find Amber a pair of house slippers. The little girl is so sport! She didn't complain and was in fact very cooperative every time we ask her to try something on.

I found this very cute shoes, but they don’t have Amber’s size for the color that I like. I’m so going to look for that in other department stores. Ngek, toinkz myself! I should’ve taken a picture pala sana so I can show it here no? Maybe some of you would know where I can find those shoes. Grrr, why didn’t I think of that?

A few strolls here and there made us hungry, it’s dinner time anyways. Our feet led us to Tokyo-Tokyo. I was so drooling for the Shrimp Tempura. We got ourselves these...
Chicken Teriyaki for the Hubby (what else? hehe!!), PhP139.00

Honey Chicken Teriyaki for me, PhP95.00

Shrimp Tempura of course ^_^, PhP125.00

Has their food improved or I haven’t eaten here for a long time kaya feeling ko sumarap yung food nila? O baka naman gutom lang ako? Hehe! Not that their food is not good but there is something in it now that I enjoyed eating. Before, I’ll eat there for the red iced tea lang. Haha, bad! Honestly, something seemed to have changed, I just can’ t figure out what. Basta, I enjoyed my meal.

The Honey Chicken Teriyaki is yummy. I liked the sweet and spicy sauce on the crunchy coated chicken. If Hubby is fond of onions, the veggies would’ve had a passing grade for him. But it’s ok, because I benefited from it. ;-)

The little girl was very curious about the chopsticks and wanted to use them herself. So I tried to show and teach her as much as I could.

She really did enjoy eating with chopsticks, well from my chopsticks that is. ^_^

After dinner, we raced against closing time to Ace Hardware as we need to buy new door knobs for the CR. Kaloka, I’ve been trapped there the night before, buti na lang hindi claustrophobic ang lola. ^_^

So that’s how my Sunday went! Sumakit ang paa ko sa kalalakad, but spending the time with the Hubby and Amber is soooo worth all the calluses! Harhar! ^_^

Look Who's Driving!

Err,... sweetheart, you have to step on the pedals.

...and you must have a license, too!

Rainy Friday's Simple Joy!

Everyone,... meet my favorite, Gurts!

With Blueberry and Almond and Whole Wheat Cereals. Total bill = PhP118 only.

I got the chance to snack on my favorite Fro-Yo while waiting for the Hubby from his Pangasinan trip last Friday at the Alphaland Southgate Mall in Magallanes. Simple joys! Don't care if it's raining hard outside and others prefer hot soup to keep them warm. ^_^

It looked super packed because this is the tiniest miniest littlest cup! They ran out of the medium cup which is really my size! Hmpft!

They asked me if they can put the medium-sized serving in the family-sized cup. I could have just agreed buti na lang my mind was working that time and I was quick to imagine myself sitting alone with that mala-tabong yogurt cup on my table. Ang chaka! Parang PG lang. Di na lang, I’ll settle for the small cup na lang kahit bitin. I just hoped that the Hubby arrives sooner so I won't be tempted into another serving.

Friday was traffic-day by the way. Thanks to the stormy weather, it took us longer than our almost 3 hour drive to get home.

But we got home safe and sound which is more than enough for us to be grateful for! ^_^

Recipe: Crispy Chicken Finger

I paired this menu with my failed-attempt-to-copy-the-Jolly-spaghetti recipe, which I will not share na lang kasi hindi ikatutuwa ni Jabibi. ^_^

But the Chicken Finger, I can say is a success! Not to the little girl though because she only took a bite, just one! Haiz, inisnab ang luto ko, broken-hearted ang Mommy!

Anyhow, the Hubby and sister-in-law said it was really good so I’m sharing again my bagong-tuklas na simple chicken recipe (really really sorry as I can no longer give credit to who I got this recipe from. Nawala na kasi sa notes ko. So sad).

Ingredients:
¼ Chicken Breast or Thigh Fillet, cut in finger sizes.
Salt and Pepper
½ Cup Milk
1 Egg
Kellogg’s Frosted Corn Flakes, crushed.
Vegetable Oil for deep-frying

How to:
- Season chicken with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- Combine milk and egg. Mix well.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- You may either just dip the chicken to the egg-milk mixture or soak it in. What I did is I soaked the chicken in the mixture. Cover the chicken with crushed corn flakes. Then deep fry until golden brown.
- Drain the excess oil in a table napkin. Serve while hot.

Kids (well, except mine) will surely enjoy this crispy sweet-tasting fried chicken.

I just have one tiny little minute concern... bakit parang nahuhubaran yung chicken habang tumatagal?!? The first batch I did was perfectly coated and brown. The corn flakes were no longer sticking to the chicken towards the last batch. I wonder what have I done wrong? Meron pa naman enough corn flakes to cover them but they just won’t stick to the chicken anymore. L

Pardon if I wasn’t able to get pictures of the finished product. We were so hungry, I totally forgot! Teehee! ^_^

Wonder what the Spaghetti and Crispy Chicken Finger is about? It’s my dear Mother-In-Law’s birthday!!! Kaya kinarir ko ang pagluluto ng stapegi. We were able to greet Mama thru Skype while we were having our lunch.

Happy birthday Mama dear!!! 2 months na lang and we’ll be seeing you again. Hurrah! ^_^
