Hubby's Road Rage Issues

Tell me where can I buy patience or maybe temper suppressants, if there are any?

I seriously need to get some for the Hubby. You see, he may be the coolest, nicest person you’d meet but when he’s driving, he’s totally a different person. Parang his alter-ego takes over him when he’s behind the wheel.

Nope! The Hubby is not driving a BMW X6... yet! ^_^
www.trucktrend.com

I’ll never get used to his road temper. Hay!

For someone who is driving more than half his life (he started driving even before he can legally get a license), he has never acquired the patience for nuisance motorists, which I may say are very much abundant in this country. He just lets them get the best of him.

Ilang beses na ba yan may binaba at nakaaway na driver or nanghabol at nangharang ng gumitgit sa kanya. Too dangerous right? What if he encounters some psycho drivers out there? Knock on wood.

Let me get that straight, he’s a super duper courteous driver but when he encounters pasaway na motorists, he becomes Incredible Hulk!
Ayan! Parang ganyan!
www.screened.com

Mano bang palampasin na lang di ba? Kung ako yun, I’d just wish them safety for the kind of driver that they are pero si Hubby, he’ll make sure that the other driver would know what he did wrong. Aba, eh buti kung lahat ng driver eh marunong makinig.

Hay, dear Hubby’s guardian angels, please never leave him even for a minute especially when he’s driving. Please.

Style-ttos Stilettos :)

I spent almost 2 hours at Shangrila Hotel’s lobby about two weeks ago waiting for the Hubby as he attended a convention there. I didn’t mind waiting though because aside from I was comfortably seated in one of their cozy couches and was able to finish 2 episodes of The Vampire Diaries, I felt like I was in a fashion show of shoes! I have never appreciated stilettos than I did that night!

I haven’t worn any shoes with heels in almost 5 years so I no longer know how it feels like in them but seeing how they give that umph! in every fashion style. Grah! It makes me want to wear them!

So I did some internet window shopping and here are some of my favorite finds - just 15 of them!

Glitter. Louboutin.

Nude peep-toe. Louboutin.

Nude Rolando Pumps. Louboutin.
I just love shoes in nude!

Coussin Caged Ankle Bootie. Louboutin.

Parang I want to be friends with Christian Louboutin! Hahaha! Wish on it baby! I love his shoes except for his ballet stilettos which I find bizarre.

Jimmy Choo
Sparkling heels!

Jeweled Open Toe Pump. Miu-miu.

Dazzling red stilletos. Milk & Honey.

So dainty! ^_^

Will wear this on my next JS Prom!
mangyayarinamankayayun?!

Comfy Pink Peep Toe Stilettos. Nine West.

Hmm, ang limited pala ng color choices ko. Must internet window shop some more! Teehee!

Problem is, tingnan ko pa lang sila napapagod na ang paa ko. So would I really wear them? Nah,... I think I’d rather design stilettos! Mas bongga yun di ba? ^_^

Parang I want to be like Hilary Swank’s character Holly in the movie “P.S. I love You”. In to my bucket list!

Amber’s Antics

At the church.
Amber (whispering): Daddy, punta na tayo mall?
Daddy: Okay, pupunta tayo sa mall after ng mass.
Amber (still whispering): Gusto ko na punta mall now.

Mommy intervenes.

Mommy (also whispering): Amber, wait muna natin matapos yung mass. Pag nag-clap na, pwede na tayo pumunta sa mall.

When the mass ended and the mass-goers clapped. Amber, in her high-pitched voice, screamed, “Yay! Clap na, pupunta na tayo sa mall!!!”.

Maryosep! Malakas pa ata sa choir yung boses nya. People around looked at us pero di ko na pinansin yung reaction nila. I was busy following the little girl hurrying out of the church. Hay, kids! ^_^

@}-,-------------

When I got home last night, Amber has sniffles.

Mommy: May sipon ka?
Amber: Yes. Kasi cry ako eh.
Mommy: Why did you cry?
Amber: Kasi... kasi away ko ate.

Ate is a new ate so I had to investigate further before I do anything drastic, which is sabunutan si ate! Aba, malay ko ba kung inaaway nga ng bagong ate si Amber di ba?

Mommy: Sino ang nang-away, si ate o si Amber?
Amber: Ako. Inaway ko si Ate. Kasi ayaw ko pa bath time e. Play pa ako eh.

Ah, ganun naman pala. Sha na ang nang-away, sha pa ang umiyak na parang inapi. Hay, kids!

@}-,-------------

Amber was playing with her LPS when Kangaroo fell from the table.

Amber: Mah-meeeee (Mommy)... nalaglag si kangaroo. Di ko reach oh!

When I turned to look at her, she was extending her hand towards the Kangaroo but not really reaching it. As in 1 inch na lang yung pagitan ng kamay nya at ni Kangaroo. She could have bent a little without much effort at kuha na nya, instead, she called for Mommy and asked me to get it for her. Ang cute di ba? Hay, kids!

*For the record... no, I didn’t get it for her. ;-)

@}-,-------------

The Hubby and I just got home. Dinner is served so we took our respective seats at the table when Amber tugged her Daddy.

Amber: No... Daddy... akyat tayo.
Daddy: Wait lang. Eat muna si Daddy.
Amber: No... bihis ka muna di ba?

She can really be so persuasive.

Amber: Dirty pa kasi yung dress mo.

Dress? Hay, kids!

@}-,-------------

Mommy interrupts Amber while she plays one night.

Mommy: Halika na Amber. Time to brush your teeth para sleep na tayo.
Amber: Ahm... sleep na lang tayo... pagod na ako eh.

Excuses?!?

Do you know that -

Every time you lick a stamp, you're consuming 1/10 of a calorie.

Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

Your stomach has to produce a new layer of mucus every two weeks otherwise it will digest itself.

The names of all the continents end with the letter they start with.

The length from your wrist to your elbow is the same as the length of your foot.

The only 15 letter word that can be spelled without repeating a letter is "uncopyrightable".

Stewardesses is the longest word that is typed with only the left hand.

No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, and purple.

"I am" is the shortest complete sentence in the English language.

If you spell out consecutive numbers, you have to go up to one thousand until you would find the letter "a".

Hmmm... interesting! ^_^

Today's Words of Wisdom

The thought for the day is from one of my neighbors in Sesame Street...

“Sometimes, me think what is love? And then, me think love is what last chocolate cookie is for. Then me give up my last chocolate cookie for you!” –Cookie Monster

Awww, isn’t this blue monster adorable?

McDonald’s Twister Fries + Iced Coffee with Vanilla

I have always fancied McDonald’s Twister Fries so I’m always on the lookout because it has gone and back, gone and back several times. J

Now, it has stayed for a longer time and I am so happy!

Perfect afternoon snack especially when paired with Iced Coffee with Vanilla. This is more acceptable to my tastebuds than their coffee float. J

Oh! McDonald’s Iced Mocha is the best McCafe concoction I had so far! You should try it.

Goodbye Ate Nora... Hello LPS Pony! Hello Ate Judith!

Amber’s LPS Pony went astray and gone missing for days. Ginalugad na namin lahat ng sulok na hindi naman karamihan but it was still MIA.

It's really a pony but Amber calls it a horse.

Would you believe that I was more affected from losing the pony than Amber is? To the point that I always ask her if she has found Horsie yet every time I get home. I know... It’s so kaka of me!

Hubby: Sige, pag nakita ni Judith yung horse, ibig sabihin magiging permanente na sha dito satin.

Idamay pa si Judith sa ka-wierd-uhan ko! Ate Judith is helping us temporarily while we wait for Ate Nora to come back.

The next day...

Amber: Look Mommy, na-found na the horse oh!

Mommy: Talaga? San nahanap?

Amber: Nikita ni Ate sa lalim ng sofa!

What?!?! I almost crawled under that sofa (kung kakasya nga lang ba eh) but I swear I didn’t see it there! Tapos Ate Judith found it there?! She didn’t even know the deal about the pony nor it being missing for days?!?!

Was that divine intervention? Kasi the next day, Ate Nora made paramdam that she might extend her vacation for an indefinite time. Ganun? Is that even fair after I allowed her again for another long vacation, the second within only 5 months, and giving her a full salary?

So we decided to say goodbye to Ate Nora after 5 months. There were actually other reasons apart from her not coming back as agreed. Let’s say, marami kaming irreconcilable differences. Naks, parang married couple lang no? Ayun, annulled na kami now.

Judith naman is not so new in the household. She has been with the Hubby’s family for 11 years since 1994 and left to attend to her family in 2005. It was early this month when she started texting my MIL that she is available whenever her services are needed.

So all is well for the meanwhile and hopefully for a longer time. ^_^

Recipe: Breaded Bacon-Wrapped Prawns

Nanay brought her Bacon-wrapped Prawn recipe to another level!

Same recipe with the addition of 1 slightly-beaten Egg and Bread Crumbs.

When you’re done with the original recipe, just dip the prawns on the egg then cover it with the bread crumbs before frying. That’s it! No need for a rain dance! ^_^

I haven’t really thought of the best dip so far so you can try whatever suits you. Enjoy! Nom-nom.

An Unexpected Visit

A former employee of our company paid us a surprise visit yesterday. He and I were hired almost the same day but he had to leave the company after 2 years. I stayed loooonger. ^_^

Then I started reminiscing. It was in March 2001 when I joined this company. 11 years and counting. I literally spent my childhood here! Teehee!

I have witnessed employees and business partners come and go. Projects that were bagged and lost.

I’ve seen the company grow, I am even proud that I played a big part when it was incorporated in 2002. I’ve seen its best and worst years.

I can still recall how our annual outings went. How I played around with my boss’ nieces who were only 13 years old then. Now, they have graduated from college and 1 of them already has a kid of her own. Yet, I still remember her as a kid herself.

Year 2002: Those kids with us are all grown-ups now.

My boss’ infant firstborn then is now about to enter highschool. A former officemate’s daughter who has became my goddaughter is already 10 years old and looking so grown-up now.

Those years have really gone so fast.

Sabi nga ng officemate ko, I didn’t have to look afar. I am already a wife and a mother of a 3-year old. ^_^

Whenever friends ask me what is making me stay despite the opportunities outside, I simply respond, I feel at ease here, I have a good boss who values my capabilities, co-workers/friends who make a stressful day enjoyable, a job that challenges me but doesn’t totally wears me out.

It may not give me a luxurious lifestyle but it pays me decently. And at the end of the day, it’s my personal contentment that matters the most. ^_^

But honestly, no matter how heart-warming their visits are, I hope we don’t often get visited by former co-workers. I can’t help but feel nostalgic and worse, realize that I’m getting old. LOL! No, that was a joke! I really love seeing them again and be able to catch up on lost times. I sincerely hope that they get to visit us more often.

Hello There, Baby Isaac!

Oh my! This welcome post for baby Isaac is already overdue. He was born in June (Last week ng June ba yun? I really have to find out the exact date!) but I missed to give him a welcome post. So huli man daw at magaling, maihahabol pa rin. ^_^

Congratulations, Mommy Arcee and Daddy Bam for a very lovely baby boy!

Mommy Arcee, by the way, is my college best buddy. Naku, andami naming pinagdaanan nyan! Even if we were stuck every freaking day in SLEX (from school) for hours until past midnight during the construction of Skyway, parang di kami nauubusan ng kwento. Those times, haaay!

Isa pang side kwento: Alam nyo ba, Arcee was one of the busiest people during my wedding? Isang gabi kaming hindi natulog nyan para tapusin lahat ng DIYs ko. Ano ba ang tama, she volunteered or I assigned her, to be one of my coordinators. When I got my wedding pictures, that was the only time I realized we never had a decent picture together. Eto lang:
Arcee, while having her hair fixed. Pareho pa kaming payat nun! I missed those days! Teehee!

I feel bad. Pero sabi ko nga, marami naman kaming memories that I will forever treasure and keep in that special place in my heart. Keri na kahit wala mushadong picture, di ba BFF?. ^_^

See you very soon, baby Isaac. Your Ninang Lanie is so excited to meet you.

Coffee Float Galore

Hey! Hey! Hey! What do we have here?

Sorry for the poor lighting.

McDonald’s now also offers Coffee Float! And because I liked that of Jabibi’s, I immediately ordered for McDo’s version and what did I find out?

It has a very strong brewed coffee taste! Very strong for me since I am not really a coffee person. The ice cream and chocolate didn’t help subdue the bitterness of the coffee. In fact, I could not taste the chocolate syrup at all!

It offers bitterness up to the last sip. L

Conversations With A Toddler

If you want a simple, uncomplicated conversation, talk to a 3-year old.

Mommy: Amber, are you happy?

Amber: Yes.

Mommy: Why are you happy?

Amber: Kasi...

Pause. She got a little distracted with her toys.

Mommy: Kasi?

Amber: Kasi, hindi ako sad.

Oo nga naman. Ganun lang ka-simple di ba?

@}-,----------

On the other hand, may mga days din na magulo silang kausap.

Amber: Mommy, ayoko ng rice. Gusto ko, kanin lang!

This is when they become complicated. But, okay baby, as long as you don’t ask for bigas.

@}-,----------

They can also be reprimanding.

Nagulat na Mommy: Sh!+!!!

Amber: Mommy!!! That’s bad word! ‘Shocks’ lang pwede!

At least she provided an option. Kids! ^_^

Magnum Choco-Cappuccino

By this time, a lot of people had already gotten over the Magnum craze. I haven’t yet! It is still my favorite ice cream bar to date!

I was first drawn to the Truffles flavor. Simply because I’m a 100% chocolate-lover.

Then nung nagsawa na ko sa Truffles and I missed biting nuts in my ice cream bar, naging favorite ko na si Almond. I always like my ice cream with nuts. It gives texture kasi sa ice cream.

Just recently, Magnum Choco-Cappuccino caught my attention.

The Hubby and I tried it yesterday. For me, it’s a bit short of the cappuccino flavor. Naubos ko na yung isang bar yet, hinahanap ko pa rin yung coffee flavor. What I love about it are the sugar bits in the chocolate coating. At first, I thought they were toffee bits, pero when I read the ingredients, sugar bits lang pala but it has this sweet-caramel flavor. ^_^

I will definitely give it another try before I go back to Magnum Almond, baka-sakaling mag-improve ang lasa nya sa taste buds ko. Teehee!

Seafood By The Bay, Subic

When we searched the net for a good place to dine at Subic, Seafood By The Bay easily got our attention because of its promise of fresh seafood.

It is located along Waterfront Road. You won’t get lost as long as you drive along the bay. The restaurant is along the boardwalk. It would’ve been great to dine Al Fresco but because of the stormy weather, we just had to enjoy the view from inside their spacious restaurant.

The fish looked as if they dove into the glass wall from the sea. So creatively done!

Amber here is feeling a bit impatient as she waits for the food.

Good thing we were the only diners that time, we didn’t have to wait too long for the food to be cooked. When our lunch arrived, parang fiesta!
Yang Chow Fried Rice (PhP280.00)

I know that this is not in the seafood category but this is what I loved the most of all that were served on our table!
Spare Ribs with Salt & Pepper (PhP240.00)

I wished we split this order in 2 dishes. This particular dish is a little bland for my taste. There is not even a hint of garlic as you bite in it.
Butter & Garlic Shrimp (PhP561.00)

This dish was picked by the Hubby. Madali daw kasing balatan. LOL! I love the lemon-butter sauce. A bit overcooked nga lang. And I find it way too expensive!
Grilled Mother Prawn w/Lemon & Butter (PhP600.00)

The Hubby who is always the fried chicken person liked this but I find it dry. The skin though is so crispy.
HK Style Fried Chicken Half (PhP250.00)

Like the Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs, I liked the taste of this calamari as well. It was cooked just right -- the coating was crispy, the squid meat is tender. Amber ate a few bites until she realized it was spicy. After that, she didn't want to eat it anymore. "Mahanghang" daw!
Calamari Salt & Pepper (PhP215.00)

We also got Nido Soup with Crab Meat (PhP250.00), which I hoped we just did not order. It's just soup full of chicharon bits. I didn't even taste the crab meat in it. :(

It took all our might not to lunge at the food as soon as it was served and smile for a photo op.
Hmmm, why do I look like I'm pregnant here?! Or do I look like that all the time?! Sigh!

After the meal, ayan, re-charged na ang mag-ama.

We left the restaurants with tummies full and left-overs that will be our lunch tomorrow. We will definitely come back and try their other dishes on our next Subic trip. ^_^
